R3 day at Riverside Secondary School
Diksha
Riverside Secondary School,
Singapore
In my school we are encouraged to reuse
materials and recycle as much as possible. For example, for classroom
decoration we maximise the use of recycled materials. We also have designated
areas for recycled items, the Recycling Corner, and special trashcans for
plastic waste and tetra packs.
Divya Manoj Riverside Secondary
School, Singapore
In Riverside Secondary, we have an annual
event to encourage recycling among our students and teachers. We go out to our
neighbourhood on this day in our respective classes to collect old newspapers
and clothes, which will then be recycled. The money raised from this event will
be given to the needy students in our school.
Anjali Riverside Secondary School, Singapore
In Riverside Secondary School, all the
students are strongly encouraged to contribute to recycling. This is to
reinforce the importance of recycling. Our
school collect our used textbooks at the end of the year and donate to the
Organisations which help in recycling. We have a Green and SaftyAmbassador in
each class who help to collect old newspapers from class and contribute
forrecycling.
Andreana class 1/5
Upcycling projects in our school teach us
how to be creative and turn waste into something that we can use.
Wang Yi Xuan 1/5
We are encouraged to do our part in
recycling when we have the opportunity to see how our seniors have contributed
to this project taken up by our school.
NurAlysya 1/5
Recycling efforts taken up by our school
are great to me, as it encourages every one of us to make our environment more
conducive for living. I would encourage my family and friends to do contribute
for these recycling projects by donating old clothes and old newspapers.
K Shameera 1/5
Recycling definitely help us to have a
healthy environment to study and live in school. The litters that see around,
can be turned into something that will benefit our community and we are not
wasting our natural resources by recycling.
UPCYCLING OF WASTE
Upcycling is the practice
of inventing beautiful, useful and surprising products out of waste materials.
It is distinct from
recycling in that the recycling process often requires large energy inputs and
generates unrecoverable and unusable by-products.
the goal of the upcycle is generate as little waste as possible.
